CAS, CASR, CKSR

Compact Fluxgate based current transducers single supplied (+5V)

CAS, CASR, CKSR - Fluxgate sensors

The CAS, CASR, and CKSR series encompass current sensors tailored for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed current, ranging from 1.5 A RMS to 75 A RMS, with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits.

These product families feature compact Fluxgate-based current transducers, single-supplied (+5V), and boast low offset and gain drift, with a measuring range extending up to 3 times Ipn. Additionally, CAS, CASR, and CKSR sensors are designed for PCB mounting.

CAS and CASR sensors feature 3 primary pins, catering to small current measurements from 2 to 50 ARMS nominal (6A, 15A, 25A, and 50A models).

CKSR sensors, in particular, boast 4 primary pins, with the CKSR 75-NP version even featuring 5 primary conductors, along with higher creepage and clearance distances. It supports small current measurements from 1.5 to 75 ARMS nominal (6A, 15A, 25A, 50A, and 75A models).

Finally, it's worth noting that while CASR and CKSR sensors feature reference access, CAS parts are not.

Operating on closed-loop Fluxgate technology, CAS, CASR, and CKSR parts are predominantly engineered for industrial applications.

CAS, CASR, CKSR – Features and benefits

CAS, CASR, CKSR current sensors

Main characteristics

  • Closed loop Fluxgate (compensated) multi-range current transducer
  • Voltage output
  • Single supply
  • Insulating plastic case material recognized according to UL 94-V0
  • Compact design for PCB mounting

Benefits

  • Very low temperature coefficient of offset
  • Very good dv/dt immunity
  • LTS and LTSR compatible footprint
  • Reduced height
  • Bandwidth DC to 300 KHz (+/- 3dB), 200KHz (+/- 1dB)
  • Fast response time <0.3µs

On top of these benefits, the CASR and CKSR series also offer the following advantages:

  • Reference pin with two modes: Ref IN and Ref OUT
  • Extended measuring range for unipolar measurement

CKSR also has its own distinct advantage compared to CAS and CASR, as it comes with a higher creepage distance and clearance.

Typical applications

In industrial settings, CAS, CASR and CKSR electronic components find utility in a variety of applications. Some notable examples include:

  • AC variable speed and servo motor drives
  • Static converters for DC motor drives
  • Battery supplied applications
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
  • Power supplies for welding applications
  • Solar inverters
